SUNDAY MORNING
I remember Sunday morning:
While in the kitchen cooking for nine, the sounds of gospel make her feel fine.
-Mom made sure that all would hear the sounds of gospel when she was near.
-Although she had listened to gospel on the radio all night long, it was Sunday morning's music that made her strong.
-Throughout the week she's worked more than most, but Sunday is her special meeting with The Holy Ghost.

I remember Sunday morning:
-Waking up in our crowded apartment in New York City built for four, we lived as a family with much more.
-Our family's guiding light would be at her real center, The Miracle Revival Center.
-Church was clearly where she spent her finest hours, it was where Mom drawed her power.
-Now seated in church, her favorite place, she smiled as she hummed, "Amazing Grace"
-This was clearly her place---this was her space.

I remember Sunday morning:
-Mom's been close to the Lord for the whole week, but on Sunday morning she's at her peak.
-Her spirtual energy vibrates our home for Mom knows tht with God we are not alone.
-Grits cook in the kitchen with a lot of care, as a straightening comb burns my sister's hair.
-Getting ready for church on Sunday morning was always a ritual, but with Mon it was habitual
I remember Sunday morning:
-Going to Brooklyn today to hear Uncle Preacher's sermon of the day.
-He will be preaching in his storefront church in Far Rockaway.
-It will be a long way to Brookly on the clattering subway, but Mom is with me all the way.
-Sitting in Uncle Preacher's storefront church on raggedy folding chairs, all souls have gathered to allay their fears.
-He talks about sinners, "acting the fool" while paper fans try in vain to keep us cool.
-With a tear in her eye, Mom rises to testify. She'll tell everyone she's struggled today, but the Good Lord has shown her a way.
-After all she's doing just fine, she's a mother who raised a family of nine- and many "grands", too many to mention, received her love and devoted attention.

I remember Sunday morning:
-A strong black woman awakes swelling with anticipation getting ready for the church where she will find her inspiration.

Today, Mom lives on in a better place, but we are all the better for sharing her love and grace.

SHE LIVED HER LIFE NOT ALWAYS IN BLISS, BUT ALWAYS
REMINDED US, "How can you not serve a God like
this?"

I stil remember Sunday morning

For out devoted Family, Glenn
